Dance comes with history and context that has unfolded for years, decades, centuries. Join me as we explore the embodiment of these dances for a deeper understanding of the diversity and complexity of Egyptian Dance.

Based upon my popular Historical Roots lecture, I am offering this great opportunity to dance through our history. Dive into the posture, musicality, movements, and aesthetics of pivotal moments in Egyptian dance history from Awalim to Modern Contemporary. Each class will start with a lecture to give context and background and then move dancers through a warmup, technique, and combinations to experience how each dance feels unique and distinct. Connections of evolution and influence will also be discussed and explored.
